Zoo La La 2015

The 3rd annual Zoo-La-La may have been last month, but people are still buzzing about the good time they had mingling with some of our animals as well as enjoying the latest fashions on the red carpet. The evening pulled in donations totaling $17,000 that will be used in the first phase of Wolf Woods.

A shout-out to our sponsors: The Delaplaine Foundation, Everedy Square and Shab Row, Frederick Magazine, The Furnace Bar & Grill, Maryland Event Rentals, Marlene and Mike Young, Betsy Randall and WHAG-TV.

This year we were in the Monocacy Cannery, a beautiful space of red bricks, wooden beams and large windows looking out at the Frederick skyline. We are extremely grateful to owner Bert Anderson for making the spot available and helping us bring together a fabulous venue. Also adding to the ambience was the awesome lighting created by Parlights and the background music from Shew-sical Entertainment. Falconer Deron Meador and his crew delighted the audience with their birds and there are not enough words to thank the zoo’s dedicated staff for bringing the engaging animals.

A big thank-you goes to The Furnace, Cakes to Die For and Sisters Bake Shop for their delicious food and to Gateway Liquors.

Fashion providers were Alicia L Boutique, Aspire Boutique, Hunting Creek Outfitters, Talbots and TLC Bridal Boutique. Belleza Hair & Nail again did an amazing job styling our models who included Judy Deluca, Shawn Dewees, Guy Fletcher, Dale Gladhill, Karlys Kline, Matt Makowski, Gina Posey, Mary Smith, Kelly Schulz, Kirsin Garriss, Shelly Loflnd, Taylor Lowkey, Cindy Miller, Ashley Mills, Yvonne Reinsch and Chelsea Umberger.

Master of ceremonies Russ Hodge kept the audience entertained and auctioneer Bob Hahn had them furiously bidding on prizes ranging from zoo adventure packages to paintings done by some of the zoo animals. Bartenders Diane Butler and Maurice Jackson made our guests feel right at home.

Thanks to the following for their live and silent auction donations: Tanya Hatosy-Stier, Aspire, Curious Iguana, Green Bamboo Spa, McCutcheon’s, A Perfect Fit, Skate Frederick, Springfield Manor Winery & Distillery, Sue and Frank Stanczyk, The Muse, The Record Exchange, ThorpeWood and TLC Bridal.

Members of the Zoo-La-La committee, Marsha Carmack, Dee Dolan, Kirstin Garriss, Kelly Johnson, Nancy Luse and Leslie Ruby, thank all those who supported this event and are looking forward to next year’s Zoo-La-La.
