Big & Tall/Short & Small Party
Jul 29 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Come and celebrate the birthdays of some of the Catoctin Zoo’s favorite animals! The Zoo is holding a full day of birthday celebrations as we honor our Galapagos Tortoise, Black and White Ruffed Lemur, Parakeets and our Giraffe!

The celebrations will begin at noon with the premier showing of “Froto,” our one year old Black and White Ruffed Lemur at 10:30. Our celebrations continue at 12:00pm to treat “Gladys,” our Galapagos tortoise to a special birthday fruit basket. At 1:30 we will take our visitors in groups visit the NEW Aussie Aviary, where parakeets and cockatiels will be awaiting the treats the visitors have for them. Finally, the celebrations end with “Rocket” the Giraffe enjoying his birthday treats at 2:30pm. We will also be offering Giraffe encounters for a small donation dedicated to the newly planned African Skywalk.

An Educator from the Zoo will present information on that particular animal. This is a great time for kids to learn about the animals as well as to ask questions and participate in the celebrations.

There will be opportunities for children to create birthday cards for our birthday honorees. The cards will be displayed around each animal enclosure. The day of celebration is also our chance to increase awareness about threatened and endangered animals. There will be opportunities to receive valuable information about conservation efforts, as well as an opportunity to donate to individual causes.
